Hey guys, this is my first post on this blog, hope you enjoy it. In this article I will be talking about the upcoming changes planned for Diablo 3 and what I think about them.
Let’s start this post by talking about the Armory. If you follow the news released for Diablo 3 you probably know about the announcement Blizzard made shortly before the game was released, stating that Diablo 3 was getting a WoW like Armory. This Diablo 3 Armorywill enable you to look at pretty much anyone’s profile right from the Blizzard’s website.
The profiles have finally been released and are very similar to what we already have in the game, with the big difference that in-game you are only allowed to look at the profiles of your team-mates or friends while in this new system you can look at anyone’s. I personally really love this new feature. Not only does it allow me to finally have a look at what the famous players are using (Kripp, Athene, Force etc) but it also allows me and other players to communicate better on the forums. This is because you can now simply click on a poster’s name to see all the details of his account, allowing you to ask about builds, gear, followers, etc.
Here is what they look like:
Only the Career and Hero tabs have been released so far, but Blizzard plans on including a tab for Achievements and Artisans as is seen in the preview pictures.
Moving on from the armory, artists should be glad to know that the Blizzard comic contest is back on! Also called the Diablo 3 Comic Contest (because it is the first contest to allow Diablo 3 work), talented artists (or pretty much anyone) can submit their comics for a chance to win one of the following prizes:
- DC Unlimited StarCraft® Premium Series 2: Tychus Findlay Action Figure
- SteelSeries Diablo® III Headset
- World of Warcraft Poker Set (my favourite!)
Although I won’t be entering this contest due to lack of time/skill, I really love looking at what other people come up with. After all, who doesn’t like comics?
On to the Auction House. According to the blue posts in this thread, Blizzard will finally implement these sought after functions in patch 1.0.4:
- The ability to cancel an auction at ANY POINT after it has been posted as long as it does not have any bids. Seriously why was this not in release?
- The ability to search for items by using 6 affix filters instead of 3. If you are unaware, 6 is the maximum number of affixes a Rare item can have.
- The ability to search Legendary items by their stats instead of only by name.
I have been waiting for these changes since release, but at least we finally get to have them now.
Keeping on with the patch 1.0.4 theme, there will also be a buff to all legendary items in the game. This buff will only effect new drops so if you already have a legendary item it won’t change it. In my honest opinion, I really think that Legendary items should be the best items in the game and not have a chance to be overpowered by Rare items. Hopefully this new change will make it so.
After this patch is released, we can expect the 1.1 patch to finally hit the game giving us the long awaited PvP arenas. Finally some end-game content for Diablo 3!
