The Adventures of Lam Laminaus, Intergalactic Suicidal Assassin Squid: Part 3

I previously alluded to the fact that the most common form of death in the X-Universe is death by incineration from plasma burst generators.  Well the second most common death is due to overconfidence.  In a regular style game, if you die, you can curse a few times and reload an earlier safe, hoping you didn’t lose too much progress.  In a dead is dead game, if you die, its game over.

So here I am, hugging a space station for dear life while deadly combat drones buzz and swarm nearby trying to get some pot shots at me due to a moment of weakness and me being over confident.  Look on the bright side, at least I’m not dead yet.

Despite objections by the owner, stations are great shields when in a bind.

“Space is big. You just won’t believe how vastly, hugely, mind- bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it’s a long way down the road to the chemist’s, but that’s just peanuts to space.” – Douglas Adams

Extreme Spacewalking

There are two rules to follow when dealing with a Teladi.

  1. Always assume they are cheating you in some way.
  2. See rule number 1.

Unfortunately, it has been a while since I dealt with them and I forgot those rules (excessive consumption of the Earth variant of space fuel probably didn’t help much either).  So here I am, floating in my spacesuit in the middle of some random sector with a repair laser and very far away from Boron space.  Damn those sneaky Teladi.

X3: Terran Conflict, or X3TC for short, is the latest game set in the X universe made by Egosoft.  The best way to describe X3TC is a sandbox style free-roaming game in a universe that is connected by a series of jump gates.  Although the player starts out small, they can eventually be in control of an empire that spans the entire known  galactic space with fleets of ships and hundreds of sector spanning factory complexes.  The last time I played X3TC was version 1.5.  Since then, Egosoft has be steadily adding patches and content into the game, which is now up to version 3.1.  Eager to jump in to discover the new missions and content, I’ve decided to fire up the game once again and log my adventure.
